Position Overview
The Director of Business Development is a results-oriented sales professional responsible for driving growth in Pacific Coast Jet’s (PCJ) aircraft management portfolio under both Part 135 and Part 91 operations. This role focuses on identifying, pursuing, and closing new aircraft management contracts, working directly with aircraft owners, brokers, and aviation partners to expand the company’s managed fleet.
The ideal candidate is a proactive hunter who understands private aviation, excels at building trust with high-net-worth clients, and has a proven ability to convert opportunities into signed agreements.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Acquisition
- Proactively identify and engage aircraft owners, family offices, brokers, lenders, and OEM representatives to generate new management leads.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects through cold outreach, referrals, industry networking, and targeted campaigns.
- Drive the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract signature.
- Facilitate aircraft sales and acquisitions as opportunities are developed.
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Deliver persuasive, data-driven sales presentations tailored to client goals, emphasizing operational excellence, cost transparency, and owner benefits under both Part 135 and Part 91 management programs.
- Collaborate with operations, finance, and PCJ leadership teams to develop accurate proposals, budgets, and contract terms.
- Negotiate management agreements that achieve company margin targets while meeting owner expectations.
- Consistently meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets.
Market Positioning & Brand Representation
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking forums to strengthen market presence and generate leads.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key aviation stakeholders — brokers, manufacturers, consultants, and management company partners.
- Act as a brand ambassador, clearly communicating the company’s value proposition and differentiators.
Pipeline Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all leads, opportunities, and activities in CRM.
- Provide regular reports and forecasts with PCJ leadership.
- Continuously refine sales strategies based on market feedback and performance metrics.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of direct sales experience in private aviation aircraft management, or aircraft sales.
- Demonstrated ability to close profitable management contracts or similar high-value deals.
- Strong understanding of Part 135 and Part 91 operations, cost structures, and ownership considerations.
- Established network of aircraft owners, brokers, and aviation professionals (strongly preferred).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Self-starter mentality with a high level of accountability and competitive drive.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Aviation Management, or a related field preferred.
